Role Overview
You will be helping to set up and run a new Digital Support service within Woodcote Volunteers.
The aim is to help those who need it in a variety of ways – to get online, learn how to use their device, explore new ways to use technology, write and send emails, text messages, online shopping and so forth, always with the security and safety of those people in the foremost of our minds.
We will be offering 45 minute, pre-booked, one-to-one sessions during a two-hour time-slot, twice a month, to be held at the Community Centre in Woodcote. This means that you will be asked to see two clients per month either on a Thursday morning or Saturday afternoon.
Getting Oxfordshire Online will provide us with two reconditioned laptops and tablets so we can show people how to use them. More usually, people will bring their own devices, asking for help in using them.

Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a committed and compassionate individuals who have the following attributes:
– Some working knowledge of computers, tablets and smart phones. You do not need to be an expert but basic functions, such as knowing how to set up an email account, search the internet, set up contacts, online shopping etc would be needed. You will always be able to get help from your fellow volunteers, Getting Oxfordshire Online and the good old internet!
– Great communication skills.
– Patience and empathy – some older people will take time to be able grasp new concepts.
– A desire to be of community service.
– Enjoys working collaboratively with a new team.
Time Commitment:
Once the project is up and running, two hours, once or twice a month at the sessions held in the Community Centre. There would need to be some hours at the start whilst setting up the new project, with a few meetings.
